Description:
Open space or road that is bound by a low wall and tapers dramatically from the full foreground to a narrow vaulted archway in the center of the composition. Different groups of people - curates, soldiers, men, and women - in the open area. Ruins of arches to the left alongside a building with an apse and a tower in the distance. On the right, an open space behind the low wall and another small building. Domed building in the distance to the right of the archway. Caption/key below.
