SKINNER CATALOGUE: Collection Box. An oblong collection box in walnut, with turned handle. Dovetail construction. From the old Madison Avenue Dutch Reformed Church, which stood at the corner of Madison Avenue and 57th Street, New York. The box was given to Mrs. Hammond as a child by a deacon of the church, about 1885, during her father's pastorate, when silver collection plates were installed. Date about 1860 or earlier. Presented by Mrs. Fanny Reed Hammond. Box 8 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" Handle 12" Cat. 7/8/1935.
