Label Text:
Post specializes in monotype (literally, "one print"), painting her designs in ink onto the printing plate, and often incorporating stenciled forms. After pulling the first print, she manipulates the ink remaining on the plate, and pulls a second, "ghost" image, seizing on the element of chance to shape the design. In this pairing, the more brilliantly-colored print came first.

In the second print, Post explores a favorite theme: the awkwardness of adolescent bodies, seen in the sloping posture and clasped hands of the figure in the foreground and in the gawky legs of the figure in the water. Post's use of color is limited: the same ink is used for the sky, the water, and the bathing suit of the figure on the left. Despite the cheerful hues, an eerie mood pervades the work, in which the vastness of the body of water is contrasted with the presence of so few people.
