Description: left panel of a vertical ōban triptych; nishiki-e; musha-e
Label Text: This print is signed at lower-left "Ikkesai Yoshiiku ga" ('drawn by Ikkesai Yoshikuni") within the yellow and red cartouches. Beneath the cartouche is the faded seal of the artist. It is known from other impressions, including the complete triptych at the Boston MFA (acc. no. 11.41145a-c) that the artist's seal reads "Ikkesai." The seal of the publisher, visible at middle-left beneath the branch of the pine tree, is that of Kagaya Kichibei (known until ca. 1850 as Kagaya Kichiemon) of the the firm Seiseidō. The censor's seal can be seen at lower-right of the sheet, supermiposed on the black-and-white banner. It indicates a date of inspection and approval as the third lunar month of 1860 (Ansei 7).
