"From an orbit that has never faltered my Aunt Winona sends me her love and the Lord's advice. My Uncle Dwight, a maverick sparkler in her sky of eternal stars, in ninety years has established a predictable orbit of his own. From the candied suburbs of the carrion City of Angels he writes his sister Winona a Christmas letter, still taunting her about articles of faith. His voice creaks. He walks with a cane. But in a firm clear hand he writes her that he plans to carry on till they carry him off. Since he'll be dead where he's going, little he cares how hot it is."
