Description:
ca. late 19th or early 20th century plaster cast of a Pentelic marble original dating to the Classical Period, ca. 421-406 BCE. A caryatid is a sculpted figure used as a structural support for the entablature of a Greek temple or other building in place of a cylindrical column. This caryatid is one of six from the south porch of the Erechtheion, often referred to as the Porch of the Maidens, located on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
