Description:
ca. late 19th or early 20th century plaster cast of a marble original dating to the Archaic Period, ca. 560 BCE. A kore is an Archaic Greek stylized sculpture of a standing young woman dressed in loose garments. This kore, missing her head, is uniquely cylindrical. An inscription on the hem of her garment indicates that the kore was made by someone named Cheramyes and dedicated to the goddess Hera. The original sculpture after which this cast is made is located at the Louvre in Paris, France.
Provenience: Greece, Samos, Heraion (original)
