Description:
thin geometric tree-like forms

Label Text:
This sculpture explores forms in space. The positive shapes Pomodoro creates in bronze are as important as the negative spaces they generate in between to give form to the sculpture. Before turning his attention to larger-scale sculpture, this artist made jewelry. Evidence of this earlier practice may be seen in the finely cast bronze components, held together by small metal rivets.

The title of the sculpture, inscribed on the underside of the wooden base in the original Italian (Lo spirito dei boschi) may reflect the influence of Surrealist artists and writers who rely on dreams or the subconscious as a creative force.
