A popular t-shirt worn by roughnecks in the oil patch displays a salute to Iranians who threatened U.S. energy independence. Oilmen in the U.S. southwest felt confident they could supply America with enough oil to enable politicians to take a no compromise approach with revolutionaries in Iran.
