Description:
Circular pocket flask or bottle form with compressed, flat sides with attached tubular spout, made of tin-glazed earthenware with a greenish-gray tint to the glaze; flask is decorated with blue, red and green colors, on one side is a large two-handled campana vase of flowers, and on the other side is a large flower growing in a garden setting with two birds and insects at the edges, a border of dark blue decorates the edges between the two flat sides and the exterior of the spout, the blue border has white penciled scrollwork and is also decorated with red flowers with green centers. There is a triangular shaped set of stilt marks on the side decorated with the vase of flowers, the decoration is freely and hastily decorated. Black marker on the inside of the spout reads "V&A"? Since there is no base for this flask to sit upon, it was likely carried in a pocket. Condition: there is a large chip to the rim of the spout.
