Label Text: Inspired by the obsessively detailed exaggeration of the human form found in comic books of the 1990s, Noble invents new designs using fragments of the comics' imagery. The resulting morphed, stretched, and free-floating designs--simultaneously evocative of graffiti, Pop art, and high culture--re-imagine the power and physical extremity of superheroes.
In Rainbow 6: Relayer, weapons, human hair, horses, mechanic claws, and other elements combine, industrially and organically, in a web of relaxing lines, revealing a metallic texture that appears weightless. By de-contextualizing details from comic books, Noble gives these violent elements a controlled, serene beauty.
