Label Text:
Matta was a member of the Surrealist movement and shared the group’s active interest in modern science and astronomy. The rapid advancement of science and technology in the twentieth century proposed new frontiers that upended fundamental conceptions of space, time, and the cosmos. Matta’s work embodies this new freedom by evoking a new, unknown realm.
