Label Text: In this image, airplanes are a source of terror, bringing inescapable death to the people below. Angels appear to hold back the airplanes, implying that the technological achievements of mankind suffer defeat against heavenly forces. The confrontation of the divine and the human is shown as a clash of spiritual power and technological progress. By combining traditional religious iconography with elements of modernity, the artist creates an original and profound expression of war as a holy enterprise. BJ, 2014
