Commissioned by the University Museum of Contemporary Art (formerly the University Gallery) and the Digital Print Center, University of Massachusetts Art
Department, as part of Tom Friedman's participation in the first Artist-in-Residence Program.
Renowned artist Tom Friedman was Artist-in-Residence at UMass in 2008, producing a remarkable limited edition print as a collaborative project between the University Gallery and the Art Department's Digital Print Center. Six graduate students in the MFA Studio Art program (Geoffrey Owen Miller, Lyndsey Baldwin, Kimberly Hennessy, Deborah Karpman, Justin Kemp, and Megan Randlett) apprenticed with the artist, and Geoffrey Owen Miller was selected to collaborate on the final design. We are grateful to Tom Friedman for his generous donation of a print from this edition to the permanent collection.
