Description:
Pair of spectacles with coin silver frames, oval glass lenses, one lens is cracked, pin-in-slot side arms, one 1/2 side arm is missing, and tear-shaped finial or loops at the temple, which were made by silversmith and jeweler, Guy C. Munsell (1809-1884). Munsell worked as a jeweler in Greenfield from c.1835-1850. In 1836, he married Amanda Day (b.1812) and they lived on a local farm. They moved to Amherst, Massachusetts, after 1850, and Guy Munsell was listed on subsequent census records as a farmer in Amherst.
