Label Text:
This tanka represents the Copper Mountain Paradise where Padmasambhava (8th century master who helped introduce Buddhism to Tibet) is said to be living. He sits dressed in royal robes with his special hat within the three storied palace over which appear rainbow arches and flying celestials. The eight different forms or manifestations of Padmasambhava appear in front of him. To his immediate right and left are his two consorts, Mandarava (Indian), and Tsogyal (Tibetan) respectively. In the foreground live the raksashas (demon like trolls).
