Description:
Sadiron composed of a cast iron base with a hinged copper lid and an attached, curving wooden handle. Sadirons were heated on the stove and used to press clothing. Since they had to be heated continually, often there was more than one owned in a household. The top of the copper lid is stamped "THE FLOWER/ BOX IRON", and the lid is opened and closed on the side by a moveable wooden knob. There is a removable iron heating element inside the sadiron.
