Description:
Lowestoft soft-paste porcelain pierced dessert basket with scalloped rim and two opposing twisted handles, with underglaze cobalt blue painted and transfer printed decoration. Printed in underglaze-blue in the center of the interior with the ‘Pine Cone’ pattern of two pine cones, a pomegranate and various flowers and foliage, the openwork sides painted on the lower intersections with floral sprigs, and the scalloped rim with a trellis and scrollwork border issuing swags of whorls, the exterior applied on the intersections with blue-centered florets and affixed on either end with a rope-twist handle terminating in clusters of blossoms, buds and leaves, all heightened in underglaze-blue. Collector's label for "Gladys Robertson/ Galt Ontario/ No." Condition: Good, but one handle with a firing crack at each end of its join to the rim; the other handle with a minor firing crack in the rope-twist area.
