Description:
Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat decorated with underglaze cobalt blue decoration, painted with chinoiserie landscapes. Of hexagonal-oval shape with an S-scroll handle, and painted in underglaze-blue on either side of the exterior with the ‘Desirable Residence’ pattern depicting a pagoda amidst various trees, some resembling telephone poles, and the interior painted in the center with two ribbon-tied Chinese scrolls, and around the scalloped and barbed rim with a trellis diaper border interrupted with five small panels of leaf sprigs. Condition: Good, but with a minuscule chip on one barb tip; and with some glaze flaws around the footrim.
