Description:
Sugar bowl composed of black basalt; the compressed spherical body engine-turned with vertical ribbing interrupted around the center with a horizontal band, the tall canted rim partially concealing the nearly flat cover similarly ribbed and surmounted by a ‘sibyl’ knop modeled as a maiden seated and clutching her hooded cloak around her, the bowl interior glazed, impressed WEDGWOOD, numeral 42 and a potter’s letter C (?) mark. Condition: Good.
