Description: Black or very dark brown stoneware teapot with lead glazed interior, molded cover with widow finial, molded spout with acanthus leaves at the base; molded scrolled, c-shaped handle with acanthus leaf decoration, sprigged translucent white stoneware (jasperware) decoration in a neoclassical style interspersed with sprigged decorative dividers, scenes include a cupid playing a lyre, a grieving woman and a dog, a floral rosette, Tomb of Werther, pair of Cupids with goddess handling arrow; etc.. the top of the cover has similar classical sprigged designs, the lower quarter of the the teapot is engine turned in a basketweave design, impressed marks on underside of base, “H/24 10/79”
