Description:
Woman’s knee-length underdrawers featuring a gathered frill fastening tie below each knee. More ordinary, cold-weather undergarments like this are rare survivals; fancier examples or those made from lighter-weight white cotton to be worn in warmer temperatures survive in greater numbers in museum collections. This example descended in the Gavin family of West Dummerston, Vermont.
