Description:
Press molded leaf-shaped dish with applied footrim, dish has impressed veins in the center, glazed all over with yellow lead glaze; painted in overglaze green enamel with a shell-edge design, the edge of the dish is painted in overglaze black enamel,on the underside of the dish, impressed “WEDGWOOD” and "S" and in black marker "T26". (S=1864?). The widespread adoption of these pickle dishes reflected a mid-18th-century change in dining fashion with the interest in pickled fruits and vegetables inspired by French cuisine.

Pickle leaves were filled with savory pickles during first or second course of dinner or could contain sweetmeats and be incorporated into the dessert service.
