Description:
Breakfast cup is a larger sized tea cup, circular bowl with sloping sides and applied foot rim; cup is decorated with overglaze enamels in cobalt blue and black and gilding, on the side of the cup is an oval reserve with a background of blue enamel and a field of small gilt stars, in the center are the initials "JAL" the reserve is banded in gold and the inner and outer rim of the cup is banded in gold, on the bottom of the cup is a modern label with "#735" and the label for "Somerset Rm./#735.1a/Set Lyman/Porcelain." There are some black specks on the bottom of the cup, and the gilding is very dark and dirty looking. This could be restoration or enhancement to the gilding and possible refiring.
