Description: Hairwork, newspaper, watercolor and ink collage in memory of Delia A. Storrs, who died at age 24 in 1859. The collage consists of a clipped newspaper obituary notice for the death of Delia A. Storrs. Delia A. Storrs was born in 1835 at Hardwick, Worcester County, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of Seth Pierce. She married John H. Storrs 29 December 1857 at Ware, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. She died 14 October 1859 at Ware. Part of the obituary reads: "In Ware, 14th, Delia A., 24, wife of John H. Storrs, and eldest daughter of Seth Pierce. A deeply interesting and loved one is fone. The devoted wife and fond sister, and the affectionate daughter has passed from earth away..." the newspaper clipping is pasted onto a piece of toned ivory paper, and is surrounded by multi-color watercolor drawings of flowers such as roses, pansies, carnations, etc.. with leaves and viney tendrils, at the bottom there is another piece of paper pasted over with a bow and tendrils, on top of the clipping is a hairwork and wire piece fashioned in the shape of flowers, stem, and leaves. The entire collage is framed under glass and set into a plain veneered wood frame. The original hanging hook survives and there is some plaid silk ribbon fabric which was used as a hanger.
