Depicts New Hampshire's state and county boundaries, roads, towns, and natural features. Place names in both English and German. Engraved by Paulus Schmidt. Sources of the map include American maps by Jeremy Belknap and Samuel Lewis. The map forms plate II of an atlas intended to accompany Christopher Ebeling's multi-volume geographical and historical study of America titled Erdbeschreibung und Geschichte von Amerika. In 1795, Ebeling proposed publishing an Atlas von Nordamerika consiting of 18 maps. Between 1796 and 1798, only 10 maps were engraved and printed. For additional information on Ebeling and Sotzmann, see Walter Ristow, American Maps and Mapmakers (Detroit, 1985), 169-178.
