Description:
Globular or bullet-shaped teapot with applied molded, reeded handle, and s-shaped spout, lif is slightly domed with a flower finial, the teapot is decorated with polychrome, overglaze enamels in a floral pattern - the central design is a spray of purple flowers (carnation?) and green stems and buds, there are other scattered sprays of flowers on the surface of the pot, the neck of the pot has a red enamel border of swags, the teapot spout and handle are painted with overglaze blue enamel leaves, the lid is similarly decorated with green leaves and a purplish flower, Condition: teapot has t-shaped hairline crack on the upper flange, chip loss on the tip of spout, small chip on the footrim, the inner flange of the teapot has a a scorched look similar to overfiring or re-firing, lid has y-shaped hairline crack extending from edge of lid rim; large loss from inner flange of lid, lid has a strange appearance as if it has been refired, there are black specks in the glaze on the underside, lid rim's glaze looks bubbly
