Description: Circular molded lid for a crock composed of gray-colored, salt-glazed stoneware; lid has a flattened, round or knob handle; the top of the lid is molded in radiating segments that appear similar to flower petals, the rim of the lid has a molded acanthus leaf border, the underside of the lid has a flange to secure it to the inside of a crock. Some staining to surface of the pot lid. Seller found the lid at a flea market in Hadley, MA, it is similar to fragment examples dug up at the Thomas Crafts & Co. waster pits in Whately, MA. Condition: A chip along the rim; chip fron the inner rim on the bottom of the lid; hairline crack cracks in several locations, bottom of lid appears very stained.
