Description:
Woman's belt made of deep salmon-colored grosgrain ribbon with a woven pattern of crosses or x's in yellow, blue, and brown. One end has three metal hooks attached. The corresponding original eyes are now missing. Ribbon belts were a popular, decorative accessory for women's gowns during the 1820s and 1830s, when styles called for elevated waistlines. Accessories like ribbon belts were a relatively affordable way to update a gown, and they could be worn with more than one gown. These belts were usually secured by a decorative buckle in front.
