Description:
Tall, straight-sided, cylindrical-shaped mug with applied strap handle and scalloped silver rim, mug is horizontally molded at the base; mug is decorated in the Imari palette of underglaze blue, overglaze red, and gilding, painted in a design of gnarled branches of flowers and pomegranites (a symbol of fertility and many sons), Condition: good condition, at one time the base may have been detached and restored and perhaps refired, there are unusual black marks along the bottom rim - perhaps signs of refiring??
