Drawing of a branching plant with flowering buds. To its proper left is a stout bloom with large petals. Above in red ink is the Latin name of the plant: Hudsonia tomenosa. Also known as Wooley Hudsonia or False Heather, it is a perrenial shrub native to New England and most of Canada
