Description:
Rectangular trunk with domed lid, covered on all sides (except bottom) the leather, decorated with thin straps of leather and brass nail heads, the leather along the edge of the trunk lid has been cut in semi-circles and the edges pinked or serrated, the top lid has the initials "SR" in brass nail heads, the trunk has a square iron lock with latch (no key) inset in the center front, the lock is attached to the trunk by wrought nails, the trunk has iron hardware on both ends of the trunk - the wrought iron plate is heart-shaped with a wrought iron bail, the bottom of the trunk has two thin strips of wood placed lengthwise along the edges of the trunk, the interior of the trunk is covered in block printed wallpaper with a gray-colored background with white leafy scrolls and green laurel leaves; the interior leather straps are broken, condition: black stain on bottom interior of trunk, some missing nail heads, some of the leather fringe is folded under, some losses to the leather along the back of the trunk - those losses are toned with red/brown paint or stain, the leather on the trunk is lifting and cracking in many places.
