Description:
Tapered stoneware cylindrical pot with tin hinged lid, strapwork, handle, and spout, and a wire bail handle, all originally fitted to pot, unglazed exterior, with Albany slip-glazed interior, bail handle has become detached on the side. Although this example is not labeled, similar pots exist with their original labels for "THE BODINE CRUCIBLE COFFEE POT/BODINE POTTERY COMPANY ZANESVILLE, OHIO." Painted on the underside in red, "89." This pitcher was originally part of the Burton N. Gates Collection. The original Gates notecard for this object does not survive.
