Description:
Conical shaped salt-glaze stoneware inkwell, with circular flat bottom, triangular tapering sides, incurving neck, and rounded lip, cork is inserted into spout; covered in a medium brown slip. Written in red paint on the bottom of the ink bottle, "Col. vicinity/ Iithaca, N.Y./ 74." Originally a part of the Burton N. Gates Collection. Original Gates notecard for this object reads, "Ink bottle./ Col. vicinity Ithaca, N.Y. stone ware: brown glaze. 3 in. high."
