Description:
Thrown, red earthenware jar, cylindrical vessel with round flat bottom, straight sides, angled neck, and flat rim, covered all over in a mottled orange lead glaze, inscribed on bottom in red paint, “27.” And in pencil, “Col. 1910/ Weston?” Formerly part of the Burton N. Gates Collection. Original Gates notecard for object reads, "Jar, spice./ Col. Clinton, 1910. Brown glaze with spots of greenish. No cover. 5 in."
