Description: Pink and green outline of circles connected with black loops, and large black filled circles in roughly the shape of an abstracted figure.
Label Text: Label text from “The Art of Collecting: Contemporary Prints from the Risa Gerrig Collection,” September 10 – October 12, 2014: Lasker’s work is often saturated with bold color fields and schematically rendered abstract figures, and he frequently applies a system of enlarging small studies. This print, which is the first in a series of three lithographs titled “Ball Figures,” emphasizes the round shapes of scribbled black lines as the dominant figures, while the alternating circles of color ringed-in by black lines create a background. The abstract figures encourage viewers to make associations with human and plant forms. - Shelby Miner (B.A. ’15)
