Description:
Small thrown red earthenware pot with smaller, under cut, circular base, swelled sides, and outward curved rim, the interior of the pot is glazed in a mottled green color and the exterior is unglazed. Inscribed on base of pot, “25.” In red paint, and in pencil, “check on object” This object was originally part of the Burton N. Gates Collection. Notecard in the Gates collection reads: " urn shaped cup without handle./ col. Putnam, Ct. 1910. Red clay: glazed inside only."
