Description:
Thrown red earthenware inkwell, shape has a flat bottom, straight sides, slanted shoulders, and flaring, rounded lip to circular small mouth. Glazed on the inside only, Inscription on base reads: in red paint, “113” and in pencil “ Rocky Hill/Conn./ Col. Morgan/ 1904” This object was originally in the collection of Burton N. Gates. Gates notecard for this object reads, "Bottle/ Red clay. glazed inside only. 4 3/4 in/ Coll. Mrs. Morgan. Rocky Hill, Conn. 1904."
