Description:
Thrown, ovoid shaped jug, spout opening is fairly large with flaring sides, handle attaches from tip of spout to the side of the jug, handle has a slight ribbing and ends with a spade shaped terminus; the body swells at the sides and tapers at the base, the rim of the lower edge flares out slightly, the underside of the base is flat, the jug is covered in a lead glaze that ranges in color from greenish to rust to speckled brown. Condition: the lower edge is very chipped all along the circumference, there is a line extending from the base of the handle into the body about four inches - this could possibly be a firing flaw, the glaze is crackled all over, there are some greasy accretions on the base and inside of the jug.
