Label Text:
While most photographers respond to the real world, Lorna Bieber responds to images of the real world. “I don’t see my work through the lens of a camera,” she notes, “I see as an editor sees—through work that already exists.” Her practice involves Xeroxing, enlarging, altering, and reprinting details of published photographs, such as those from magazines or books on landscaping. The resulting images are like memories: fractured, faded, and seen as if from an incalculable distance.

-Hannah Blunt, Associate Curator, Mount Holyoke College Art Museum (Jan. 2017)
