Description:
With basin (2013.30.2); Large pitcher or ewer for water, bulbous in shape with a large, broad pouring spout, incurving neck, rounded central section of the body, nipped in base, and flaring round foot; attached molded, arching handle, decorated under the glaze in cobalt blue enamel in a painted floral design; the design depicts stylized flowers, leaves, and branches, there is a large abstract flower in the center of the design, the design is composed of lighter and darker shades of cobalt blue; a thin line of blue enamel edges the spout inside and out as well as the edge of the foot, handle is decorated in underglaze blue enamel down the length of the upper surface with small blue leaves, the piece is not marked. There is a chip to the base of the ewer.
