Description:
Table scarf or runner made of undyed, plain weave linen with a polychrome striped design, possibly silk, formed by weft threads. The striped design is concentrated at each end, and includes the colors yellow, orange, and blue. Two areas of open work within the wider yellow stripe at each end. The body of the textile contains thicker discontinous white weft threads. Additional brown and black wefts are woven at each end near hems, probably serving as the design termination, signaling where the textile was to be cut from the loom. 27 ½” long (hemmed) x 7” wide (selvage width). Tag affixed to the textile indicates Worcester Guild, $3.00 (marked down from $4.00), article no. 16, consignor’s no. 47. Worcester Guild of Artists and Craftsmen
