Description:
Circular, draped redware dish with coggled edge; decorated with four-chamber slip cup, white slip design at the top and bottom of the dish has a 4 lines with a downward stroke in the center and then another 4 lines; a repeating border of those same designs overlapping is in the center of the dish; the underside of the dish is not glazed and shows evidence of some wear and blackening, pencil inscription on bottom of dish reads "Col. Barnstable, Mass./ 1918." Origin: probably Pennsylvania, c. 1820-1840. Presumed to be part of the Burton N. Gates Collection.
