Description: English pearlware teaset decorated in the English version of Batavia ware, consisting of a teapot and cover (.1), cream pot (.2), tea canister and cover (.5), sugar bowl and cover (.4), waste bowl, and four teacups (.11-.14) and saucers (.7-.10). Each piece is covered in a dark brown slip with heart-shaped reserves with cross-hatch bands in blue and floral sprays in blue on a white ground. The ovoid-shaped teapot with its plain curved spout, cream pot, and sugar bowl have double intertwined strap handles with bud and foliage terminals, each highlighted with blue scrolls and domed lids with conical knops. The waste bowl, cups, and saucers have stylized floral sprays in their wells.
