Informal woman's kimono made from machine-spun pongee silk (meisen) and stencil-prints. These were very popular in the late Taishō and early Shōwa eras as the meisen silk was long lasting and inexpensive. The patterns were made from chemical dyes applied by stencil patterns. Very urban in fashion, the abstract designs and vibrant colors on these meisen kimonos were stylish
