Description:
Framed drawing of a country cottage in a landscape setting with a two-story house built out of stone with a chimney on the side and a small shed on the front, which is surrounded on both ends by green trees and shrubs and a green pasture with brown rocks in the foregournd; a lake with a fisherman sitting on the bank on the left side; and bluish-grey hills in the left background. The drawing, which is probably based on a popular English print, is done with pencil, crayon, and watercolors. The drawing came from the estate of Mary Hawks, Wapping, Massachusetts, and may represent the work of one of her ancestors. It is possible that this drawing was a work from Deerfield Academy. The piece is framed in a wide veneered walnut flat frame with glass, and appears to be the original glass, frame and backboard. Needs conservation for the toning, foxing, and staining on the drawing.

Subjects:
Crayon drawing; Glass; Watercolor painting
