Label Text: This photograph is from a portfolio of ten photographs called Words and Images. The two photographers represented in the portfolio combine text and photographs in different, but equally provocative ways. Marcus pairs photographs with poems, printed on the frontispiece of the portfolio, that reflect on the imagery from a personal perspective.
This photograph is associated with the following poem: Images. Split. Splatter. Forced down the drain into the brain. One more. Another. Yet again. Overloaded. Smoking circuits. God. Passion. She came to me in poverty. Dogs howling. There was nothing left. The treaty banished. Chaos. Overcrowded. Overloaded. Men. Women. Children. Monkeys. Dirt. Sewers. All flowing down the streets. Cows staring. Blue-eyed white skinned wealth. Abundant. The food is scarce. Water contaminated. Just help a little. One rupee or two. One rupee or two. I met her last summer. Her name was India.
