Description:
Redware jar (unmarked) with a straight, raised neck or collar, bulbous round body, and flat base, there are two small ear handles on either side of the collar just below it; decorated with bands of plain incised lines around the belly of the pot and under the neck and two band of wavy lines along the shoulder and lower belly of the pot, and covered sporatically with brushes of iron-rich brown slip. The top rim of the collar has some chips. Both Ketchum and Watkins show similar jars which were made in southwestern Connecticut. Current attribution provided by American ceramics scholar Justin Thomas, 1/16/2019.
