Description:
Jacquard woven coverlet with navy wool weft and undyed cotton warp and weft. The coverlet is made of two woven lengths sewn together with undyed cotton thread. Center includes 12 pattern repeats of four thistles interspersed with a snowflake motif. Birds, flowers, and grape leaves appear on the borders. The corner blocks contain an American eagle with thirteen stars above it and the inscription "Delhi, 1839" below it. Knotted cotton cord edging with tassels on three sides.
The thirteen stars likely represent the Thirteen Colonies.
