George Lindsay, appointed Second Lieutenant to the Marine Corps. Signed by James Monroe, April 1, 1823. Framed. Label on reverse: "Frank F. Schwartz, American Antiques, Atlantic City, New Jersey."
James Monroe (April 28, 1758-July 4, 1831) fought in the American Revolutionary War, was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, and eventually became the fifth President of the United States (1817-1825).
